Canvas count helps determine the cell size for a single cross. This is a numerical size value. Usually the size of the count indicates the number of crosses or threads per inch in the canvas. The more crosses per inch, the smaller the size of each one and the denser the material.
The larger the count, the more detailed your work will be. You can find the count value either in the name of the canvas or in its description. Depending on the size of the count, all embroidery materials are divided into two groups:
The canvas with the block weave (Aida).
It has a clear stand out squares. It is suitable for embroiderers of any level. It has values from 8 to 18 count.
Where to Buy Aida
The canvas with the uniform weaving.
There are no clear divisions into cells. Such type makes a little difficult to work with it for beginners. It is well suited for items with detailed elaboration or works with partial coverage. The count for such canvas has values from 18 to 42.
